CONTEXTMaking Waves aims to establish contacts and develop ideas for future cooperation of Baltic Sea Region countries within the EU Europe for Citizens Programme. Following the success of the previous events (2013 Stockholm, 2014 Tallinn, 2015 Vilnius and 2016 in Helsinki) in creating international partnerships, Baltic Sea region’s contact making seminar “Making Waves” takes place for the fifth time, bringing together around 50 participants representing civil society organizations and public authorities from seven countries: Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Latvia, Lithuania, Sweden and Poland. The aim is to create partnership possibilities between participating organisations and provide in depth knowledge about Europe for Citizens Programme.
PURPOSEIn order to support and develop new project partnerships, the participants of the seminar will get a better understanding of Europe for Citizens Programme’s funding opportunities and priorities, application process and criteria. They will also be participating in a workshop with analyses examples of good applications and in workshops of preparing applications considering their own ideas of possible projects while going through all phases of the project span.
Who can participate?
The seminar is targeted to civil society organizations and public authorities from Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland and Sweden who are interested in developing international cooperation with funding from the Europe for Citizens Programme, including towns, municipalities and regional authorities, town twinning associations and networks, non-profit organizations and CSOs, survivor’s associations, cultural/youth/educational/research organisations. One participant per organization is expected to attend (total number of participants is limited, expecting five participants per country). The working language of the seminar is English.
Mr. Ansis Bogustovs
Ansis Bogustovs has extensive experience working with Public Relations and Media. Since 2007 Ansis Bogustovs is Editor in chief of EU affairs web-portal www.esmaja.lv, since 2005 Host of Latvian TV EU affairs program “Eirobusiņš”, since 2004 editor of Latvian TV producer “HansaMedia”. He was awarded “The best TV producer”, “Best Young TV journalist of Latvia” and also had award “For successful creation of new breakfast TV program “Rita bums”.
PARTICIPATIONEach Europe for Citizens point is going to cover the travel costs and accommodation of their participants and Experts who will be invited to present the outcome of successful projects. Europe for Citizens point in Latvia is going to pay for fully equipped conference halls of the event as well as meals for all participants.

A selection of participants will be made by every participating country’s Europe for Citizens contact point taking into consideration the profiles and interests of the applicants.
